What do we study?

The Morality IN Development Lab (MIND Lab) investigates the developmental origins of justice in humans.
We focus on the cognitive and motivational mechanisms that underlie the development of fairness, justice, and punishment.

Using an experimental approach, our research examines questions such as when and why children intervene in others’ moral transgressions, how they learn from legitimate versus illegitimate punishment, and how their moral reasoning develops across contexts.

Through this work, we aim to illuminate the origins and development of moral cognition that guide human social behavior.
